In celebration of the Erwin Park Skills Area Grand Opening, Dirt Side Sisters would like to give back to our community by offering this FREE Intro to Mountain Biking Orientation Skills Clinic to any rider (male or female) ages 15 and up! We teach this same clinic to all of our new DSS members so that they are well prepared for their next mountain biking or group ride experience. OPEN TO ALL SKILL LEVELS.
What is DSS Orientation?
We want to help you build your riding foundation with strong skills and body position that will keep you safe and having fun. Our ride leaders use several different words (that you may have never heard of or used before) to coach you through the trail. This helps keep everyone safe and the ride flowing smooth. During orientation we will teach, demonstrate, and practice:
- Mountain Bike Terminology
- Trail Etiquette
- Rider gear.
- How to check your A,B,C’s before each ride.
- How to maintain a strong and stable body position while riding.
- How to use your brakes properly.
- How to get the most out of your gears for smooth and efficient riding.
Check in table opens up at 8:45am.
If you don't see the DSS van then you're not in the right place!
Please arrive early, have your A,B,C's done, and be ready to ride at 9:00 am!
If you do plan on becoming a member and participating in a future DSS ride, we do require you to complete Orientation BEFORE signing up for any of our Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced groups. This clinic takes place in an open field with small obstacles. All participants must have a working and well maintained mountain bike.
"In general, you do not need to wear a mask in outdoor settings.
In areas with high numbers of COVID-19 cases, consider wearing a mask in crowded outdoor settings and for activities with close contact with others who are not fully vaccinated."
