(Friday, December 10th)
Join us for our December pop up ride at Erwin Park, where it'll be all about flow and not for show. What does that mean? The only stops will be to regroup, but not to teach. This is purely a flowy ride where ladies of all levels can meet others in their same skill level and ride together. Obstacles that are outside of your group's skill level should be avoided or walked. Let's put all those skills you've learned with us during the past year into use and get our flow on!
Erwin consists of mostly smooth trail with some roots. It is a mix of tight and twisty sections in the woods to some fast open field sections. There is plenty of climbing to get your heart rate up which leads to some fast and fun downhills as well!
Please arrive early, have your A,B,C's done, and be ready to ride at 11:00 am!
Check-in table opens up at 10:30 am.
PARKING:
Once you drive into the park, make your first left. Drive all the way past the first two main trailheads. At the next split take another left and drive up the hill. We will be meeting in the parking lot at the top of the hill on your right hand side. Bathrooms are generally available at this parking location.
If this is your first time participating in a DSS ride, you are welcome to sign up for this ride since we are not offering Orientation again until the Spring of 2022. Please note that in the future we will require you to complete Orientation before signing up for any of our Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced groups when our season re-starts in the Spring of 2022. DSS Orientation is an important stepping stone that we don't want you to miss out on! It will be offered at all of our non-pop up group rides. Please note: we reserve the right to move you to our orientation group at any time.
"In general, you do not need to wear a mask in outdoor settings.

Not sure what to bring? Check out our FAQ Page for more tips!
Beginner Riders - Neutral and ready position does not come natural just yet. You are still learning how to navigate your way through the trail and do not feel comfortable riding through rooty or rocky sections without putting your foot down. Quick changes in elevation or terrain give you a hard time. You walk your bike up most climbs.
Intermediate Riders - You can ride for an hour at 7-8 mph with limited stops. You have a strong/stable body position and your balance has improved in slow speed situations. You can easily ride up a curb. You are confident riding over bridges, through rooty sections and over some rocks. You can ride down drops at least two feet tall. You can ride through tree gates, dips, and up most short, punchy climbs.
Advanced Riders - You are able to ride for an hour at a 9+mph pace without stopping. You can ride all the way up steep, technical climbs and safely down steep, technical descents. You are confident cornering at fast speeds and can navigate quick changes in elevation and terrain. You can ride through most rock gardens and off drops up to three feet tall.
Group rides are open to DSS Members only.
